Several years ago, I decided that the historic centre of Genoa, with it’s tarnished charisma and endless hum of life, was a place I wanted to be and so I bought an apartment there which needed to be completely renovated.
Looking for the right property was a job in itself, one which took several months of exploring different areas and viewing tens of different properties. If there’s one piece of advice I can give to someone who’s looking for a property in the region, it would be to persevere. Don’t get discouraged if you don’t quickly find what you’re looking for and don’t settle for the first property that interests you. Once you’ve found one that you think you’d like to buy, find out everything you possibly can about it before you follow through.
At IB International Real Estate, we have a completely independent property finding service called Villa Scout. A scout can help you throughout the process and be your advocate, providing you with advice from trusted professionals who know the market and who will give you honest information on pricing and location. It pays to have peace of mind and know that you have someone on your side who can ease the burden of work. Furthermore, it really doesn’t cost much at all.
