The monumental Abbey rises in Sassoferrato, in an environmental setting of ancient charm, above a small hill surrounded by greenery and rock, in an intriguing and curious atmosphere, near the ruins of the ancient Umbrian-Roman city of Sentinum, of which grand vestiges can still be admired on site. The prestigious Abbey Complex consists of a Monastery, a Rectory House and the Church of Santa Croce (not for sale), recently restored and returned to its former glory, covering an area of about 3,000 sq. m., magnificently encompassed in a park of 36,800 sq. m. Much of the structure is already ready to be completed, while the structural consolidation has already been completed with static earthquake-proofing by means of engineering works, the exterior walls are refurbished, the interiors are partly habitable and partly in the rough and unfinished advanced state, the basement dedicated to services has been built and is currently in the rough state. Internal cavities have been prepared to serve elevators and freight elevators. The Canonical House is an integral part of the property Built by the Counts of Acts Lords of Sassoferrato in the latter part of the 12th century for the Camaldolese monks, it is one of the most important testimonies of Romanesque architecture in the region. Built by the Counts Atti, Lords of Sassoferrato, in the last years of the 12th century for the Camaldolese Monks, it constitutes one of the most important examples of Romanesque architecture in the region and was built within the perimeter walls of an existing church built probably at the time of the Templars, whose symbols are still present, in particular: the Templar Cross on the left side of the church in the direction of the altar, the symbols carved on gray columns and capitals that feature eagles and sirens. Inside the Abbey is housed an important relief, a work by Pietro Paolo Agabiti, and other frescoes from the 1400s. It is recent history that the church was visited by Napoleon Bonaparte. Sassoferrato has a rich and prestigious heritage of historical and artistic assets, such as Churches, Monasteries and buildings of architectural interest. The Rocca Albornoz, is the City’s symbolic monument, a massive military construction built in 1365, from whose surrounding park one can admire striking views. From Sassoferrato it is possible to trace endless itineraries to discover one of the most extraordinary regions of Italy.Just eight kilometers from Sassoferrato lies the Regional Park of the Gola della Rossa and Frasassi, the green lung of the Marche region with its ten thousand hectares of protected area. In the nearby town of Genga it is possible to visit the wonderful Frasassi Caves. From Genga, it is only a twenty-minute drive to Fabriano, one of Italy’s oldest paper-producing towns. Fabriano’s historic center is home to the Paper and Watermark Museum, the Palazzo del Podestà, the Teatro Gentile, and the Portico dei Vasari.
