ANCIENT RURAL HOUSE WITH LAND IN STERNATIA – APULIA

Ancient Rural Building of 160sqm within a plot of 12,555sqm in Sternatia, the heart of Salento’s Grecìa area.

Disposed on two levels, the Ancient Rural House represents the typical rural building of Salento, with a characteristic tower structure. Adjacent to the main house is a building, with a sloping tiled roof, formerly used as a stable. Positioned at the entrance to the property, the Ancient Rural House stands on mainly arable land on which, however, there are also olive trees and prickly pear plants, as well as the classic Mediterranean scrub vegetation and a small wood of healthy eucalyptus treesnear the house.

On the land, by acquiring the necessary permits thanks to the support of our Agency, it is possible to carry out renovation work on the existing farm building and obtain permission for the construction of a swimming pool. The property is located in the heart of Grecìa Salentina, 3 minutes from the town of Sternatia, and about 20 minutes from the city of Lecce.

Sternatia is one of the twelve municipalities of the ancient area of Grecìa Salentina, together with Calimera, Carpignano Salentino, Castrignano de’ Greci, Corigliano d’Otranto, Cutrofiano, Martano, Martignano, Melpignano, Sogliano Cavour, Soleto, and Zollino.
Grecia Salentina is a Hellenophone island of Salento where a dialect very similar to ancient Greek, called griko, is still spoken. The area maintains not only a linguistic but also a cultural link with Ancient Greece, to which numerous traditions testify, such as the Passion Song in Griko during the Easter period and numerous architectural testimonies found on local buildings.
