Built in the 1880s in Art Nouveau style and restored in the 1920s by architect Chevalley, the villa still retains many of its original furnishings, offering an atmosphere reminiscent of bygone eras. For a long time it was an important meeting place for intellectuals and prominent political figures of the 20th century, frequented by illustrious writers and personalities such as Giulio Einaudi, Norberto Bobbio, Cesare Pavese, Augusto Monti, Leone Ginzburg, Pirandello, Montale, Levi and the owner Franco Antonicelli himself. A majestic double staircase leads to the villa’s main entrance, known as the Hall of the Poets, which features fine French stucco decorations and opens onto four themed rooms: the Billiard Room, the Tea Room, the Dining Room and the Games Room. In the center of the villa is the spacious Ballroom, from which one ascends via a grand marble staircase to the upper floor, where the refined bedrooms, furnished with fine period furniture, are located, along with the library and gallery. The villa has 13 bedrooms, which include a number of charming suites and large bathrooms embellished with elegant marble wainscoting.
The residence also includes numerous service rooms, a study, a pantry, and other rooms distinguished by fine details, such as frescoed ceilings, large windows overlooking the park, original fine wood floors, and several working marble fireplaces.
