This evocative farmhouse is located in Val d’Orcia, 14 km from Radicofani and just outside the walls of Contignano, an ancient village of Roman origin. It can be reached by crossing a landscape characterized by gentle hills and rugged gullies, which break up the colors of the pastures and wheat fields.
The stone structure dates back to the mid-16th century. In the 1990s, it was converted into an accommodation facility. Since 2012, the large rooms have been renovated, equipping them with every comfort, taking care of both the internal environments, organized in large rooms on 3 levels, and the external ones, with the aim of creating the ideal place to stay for lovers of nature, tranquility and well being. It is currently arranged as follows: On the ground floor there is the kitchen, the restaurant with a large lounge, the lift room, two bathrooms with dressing room and a large external courtyard of approximately 1100 m2 where there is also a warehouse and a technical room. On the first floor there is a large living room currently used as a bar, three rooms and two bathrooms with dressing rooms. This floor can easily be converted into a living area or into additional bedrooms in the event of interest for residential use. On the second floor there are five bedrooms each with an en-suite bathroom. It is possible to create a spa center as a usable thermal aquifer has been identified in the land, a technical report on this is available. The road that leads to Contignano intersects with ancient transversal streets that lead to the city of Pienza and to the other splendid villages of the Val d’Orcia. The Val di Chiana is also very close and accessible: Chianciano Terme and Montepulciano are about 20 minutes away by car, the property can therefore be a starting point for cultural and food and wine itineraries. |
